Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed joins army in the fight to repel TPLF militants. This is seen as a way to galvanize troops as well as draw in more respect and loyalty among them. The last Ethiopian head of state to do something similar was Menelik II during the battle of Adwa in 1896.
